A black girl will be spending years in jail because she had a mental health crisis. PLEASE READ

image

Meet Saraya: she was experiencing a mental health crisis. Police came and tackled her. She is 15.

Saraya Rees is a 15 year old biracial girl from Coos County, Oregon. After being abruptly instructed to stop taking her antidepressants by a local pediatrician, Saraya went into psychosis. In her manic state, Saraya poured a small amount of gasoline on the floor. Her parents called Coos Health & Wellness in hope that that would send mental health advisors, Coos Health & Wellness sent the police. While still in psychosis, the officers arrested her, questioned her without her family or lawyers present, charged with attempted murder and assault, and sent her to juvenile prison for 11 years.

ELEVEN.YEARS.

This is not justice.

This is inhumane.

I love Shoko so so much, but sometimes I think that people mistakenly treat Satoru as selfish and blind for, according to them, leaving her aside.

I'm not going to mention the fact that Satoru and Suguru were frequently sent on missions together, because Shoko's technique doesn't work on the battlefield, and that this helped them create a very deep bond. I want to talk about grief and loss.

Have you ever seen someone grieving the death of a loved one? 'Cause I have experienced that many times. People who suffer from grief react in different ways, we are not all the same, and yet I have seen something that almost all of them have in common: they withdraw from others.

They usually stay with what is closest to them, either other friends with whom they had a stronger bond, or they isolate themselves completely. I've had close, very close friends walk away from me and other people because they were grieving, and that never meant they pushed me away or were blind to my support.

I remember my best friend asking me in the high-school bathrooms "why is she pushing us aside?" when another friend lost a beloved one. She wasn't pushing us aside, she was destroyed by a loss and was coping as she could to survive the pain.

Satoru lost Suguru twice. The day everything fell apart, and the day he killed him. Maybe he lost him thrice, if we take into account Kenjaku using his body as a puppet.

I'm not able to blame him for withdrawing into himself and not seeing that Shoko was there.

you know what i'm just gonna say it. i don't CARE about fionna and cake. ice king was one of the main characters of the original show, the one whose backstory was the most memorable and universally known and also kickstarted a shift in tone on the show, and he was the only main character who didn't get his own dedicated special after the series' conclusion. idgaf about genderbent finn and jake this show better be all secretly about SIMON PETRIKOV or else

Our history is not a black and white photo, but a tapestry filled with color. Just look at the detailing in their lace collars and the ruffs of their blouses. I imagine this was a few years before Madame C.J. Walkers hair relaxers were in circulation, but these Black folks, be they working class or wealthy took great care in their appearance, especially their hair. You can see some of the women in the portraits replicating the Victorian and emerging Edwardian coifs in their styling.

From Nathan C. White collection of colorized photos taken by in Gainesville, Georgia, between 1900 - 1901.

the thing about jujutsu kaisen is it really is as gay as everybody says and it is equal opportunity about it. yeah whatever the hell satosugu and itafushi got goin on but at the same time nobara’s backstory is like she was plucked out of an angsty yuri and accidentally put into a shonen. then two twin sisters who hate each other are fighting over her. megumi is telling yuji he never once regretted saving yuji and satoru is calling suguru his “one and only” meanwhile nobara talks about her literal ring of keys moment as a kid and thinking of her childhood best friend in her final moments. a BL and a GL at the same time we just don’t have time to unpack all of that bc bitches are dying left and right

The fact that they used the same song—the aquatic, piano piece the viewer thought was exclusively for Riko—for Gojou during his first manifestation of Hollow Purple speaks volumes, to me. They’re deliberately drawing a parallel between Riko and Satoru.

It can’t be coincidence that this song was first used for Riko when she was telling the viewer about how she always knew, from a young age, what she was born into, what she was destined for. How she lived her whole life knowing this about herself, and tried to live up to it.

Now, then, to hear the song played for Satoru, a child from a long line of sorcerers, who was also “blessed” with a heavy burden of the jujutsu world by birth, just like Riko, and who also never really had much of a say in what their birthright meant for their future until that point—

They didn’t need to go that hard, but I’m so happy they did.
